For a While

We interrupt your regularly scheduled typographic update with something different! A short little sequential illustration, inspired by the lyrics from Lusine’s song Twilight. Listen to it, you will immediately feel much better about life.

Here’s the first panel, the full thing is after the jump!

Choices

I’ve got more work to do on this one, but I kinda like it in straight black and white as well.

Another one from Aeschylus: “Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times.”

Lusine – Gravity

Season to Learn

Winter is perhaps the best time to throw oneself into interests, new and old alike, in the aim of learning something. What will you learn?

“It is always in season for old men to learn.” – Aeschylus

This is probably my favorite design yet. I’m building some desktop wallpapers out of this one if anyone is interested.

Working for a Nuclear Free City – Quiet Place

Feeling a Storm

Massive Attack – Paradise Circus (Zeds Dead Remix)

Vondelpark – Hipbone

Music is a Big Prayer

Trentemoller: Nightwalker

“I love this music… I love this philosophy”

This May Be It

More typography experimentation. This kick was all started by Bram VanHaeren’s An Idea Every Day series.

The lovely fall leaves photo is by Calvin Dexter.

And, of course, music I’ve been grooving to: Daily Routine by Animal Collective

Journey is the Destination

Just playing with type.

Baths – You’re My Excuse To Travel

Immersed

Starting a new illustration, just for fun.  Don’t know entirely where this is going yet, gotta sketch around it some more before it gets “inked”.  I’ve found that I really love drawing eyebrows recently… weird, I know. But the shape of them is so interesting!

Apparat’s The Devil’s Walk released today… it’s been on repeat all day while I work.  Gotta say, as excited as I was it totally caught me by surprise! Here’s another official video from the album – Song of Los

Inky Texture experiment

More digital ink, this time overlaying some texture just to see what happens!

What Inspired Me This Week, #3

You know the drill.  Here’s the good stuff:

3D Paintings – no fancy glasses needed.  Really cool, but will cause some eye strain.  Via Fast Co Design

Draw a Stickman

Official video for Apparat’s Black Water.  Makes me want to build a giant found object sculpture. And write freaking good music.

Alice Duke’s drawings – love the use of rhythm, texture, pattern.  I need to experiment more with these things!

Some time-lapse videos of the Aurora… don’t know why, but recently this stuff just mesmerizes me – Norway , Trømso
